MPhil / PhD Program at NIBGE

Training of manpower at postgraduate, doctorate and postdoctorate level is one of the mandated of NIBGE. The institutes affiliation to Quaid-i-Azam University for awarding the Master of Philosophy (MPhil.) degree in Biotechnology in 1994 was the first step in this direction.   Based upon successful implementation and wide popularity of this program, Quaid-i-Azam University accorded degree awarding status upto Doctor of Philosophy (PhD Biotechnology) to NIBGE in 2002, which was another milestone in the short history of NIBGE.  In 2010, the institute got affiliated with a PAEC organization, Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences (PIEAS) for administrative convenience. Academic features make NIBGE a unique institute among the Biosciences Division of Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission. Fifteen batches of MPhil program have completed. Twenty five candidates have been awarded PhD degree. Currently, twenty six candidates have submitted their theses, while one hundred and nineteen students are pursuing their degree program. This will enhance the human resources capacity being developed indigenously. Teaching courses have been routinely upgraded and research thesis (1 year for MPhil and 3 years for PhD) have been selected from the latest and cutting edge technologies.
