Technical Services Division (TSD) is a newly formed division of NIBGE, 2008 with the major objective to maintain major research equipment and facilities in working condition and to provide technical/analytical services to NIBGE scientists and other relevant client etc. As NIBGE harbors a large number of state of the art scientific equipment, which has resulted in a significant input in the scientific field in the country. The major equipment comprises of both imaging and analytical facilities, including Transmision Electron Micrscope, FESEM Electron Microscope, Confocal Laser Scanning Microscope, LCMS, GCMS DNA sequencer etc. Transmission Electron Microscope and Confocal Laser Scanning Microscope are the two important instruments that provide research facilities to the users all over the country. Annual practical training workshop on electron microscopy has been initiated for the first time in 2009 and will now be a regular feature of NIBGE activities. Besides, TSD cover of a major research group named Microbial Physiology Group (MPG) in the field of Biological nitrogen Fixation in legumes and non-legumes. The research area has resulted in the formulation of biofertlizers for various crops of economic importance in the country namely rice, wheat, maize, sugarcane, peas, onion and cotton etc. the commercial product was named as “BioPower” and is being produced and marketed by the division. The product was launched in 1996 and is now a prominent feature of NIBGE. Annual training course on Modern techniques in Biotechnology is another feature of this group, in which 20 – 40 participants are selected from all over the Pakistan for the training. The current goals of the TSD encompasses following areas:

To maintain major research equipments and facilities in working condition
Microbial Interaction study in Leguminous and Non-leguminous Crops
Commercial Production and Marketing of BioPower (Biofertilizer)
Annual training courses on Microscopy and Modern Techniques in Biotechnology
