The overall research interests of the laboratory are concerned with the function of Immunogenic proteins and associated epitopes . The major emphasis is currently on the fusion / chimera proteins of hepatitis B virus, hepatitis C virus and Mycobacterium tuberculosis.

Many of the immunogenic proteins & corresponding epitopes of interest are immunologically  active. Detailed knowledge of these proteins and associated epitopes in a fusion or chimeric proteins based on T and B cells antigenicity. These studies / information could become the basis for the development of therapeutic vaccines and enhancement in immunological function of a protein using molecular methods
